ABOUT ANDRE

Business-minded legal advice grounded in judgment, strategy and execution.

Andre Nayvelt, J.D. is a Toronto corporate commercial lawyer advising business owners, investors, developers, lenders and property owners on significant corporate, commercial, real estate, financing and expropriation matters across Ontario.

A commercial perspective on legal work.

Andre’s practice often sits at the intersection of ownership, financing, real estate, tax planning, governance and business strategy. His role is not simply to prepare documents, but to understand the client’s objective, identify the legal and commercial risks that matter, and create a practical path toward completion.

He has advised on business purchases and sales, shareholder and partnership arrangements, restructurings, commercial real estate transactions, development matters, secured lending, leasing and expropriation. He regularly works alongside accountants, lenders, brokers, tax advisors, appraisers and other professionals where a matter requires coordinated advice.

Experience across private practice, in-house counsel and business.

Before returning to private practice, Andre served as in-house counsel to major post-secondary institutions in the Greater Toronto Area, advising on legal, operational, governance and risk-management matters. Earlier in his career, he built and operated a home-services business, giving him direct exposure to the realities of running a company, managing risk and making decisions where time, cost and execution all matter.

That combination of legal and business experience shapes how he works with clients today: practical, responsive and focused on the commercial outcome rather than unnecessary complexity.

Connected to a full-service legal team.

Andre practises with Himelfarb Proszanski, a full-service Toronto law firm. When a matter requires complementary expertise beyond Andre’s core corporate, commercial, real estate, financing and expropriation work, he can collaborate with lawyers across the firm so clients have access to broader legal support through one coordinated relationship.
